UK Announces Biggest-Ever Drone Package for Ukraine. Here’s What’s Inside

The United Kingdom announced its largest drone package for Ukraine to date, pledging at least 120,000 drones for delivery this year, according to the UK Ministry of Defense on April 15.
The package will incorporate thousands of long-range strike drones, intelligence and reconnaissance systems, logistics drones, and maritime capabilities that London described as battle-proven on Ukraine’s frontline.

The announcement came as UK Defense Secretary John Healey traveled to Berlin to co-chair the 34th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group alongside German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“In the fifth year of Putin’s brutal war, the UK is stepping up further and providing the highest ever number of drones for Ukraine this year,” Healey stated. He added that the expanded package would give Ukrainian forces more capacity to defend civilians and “fight back against Russian aggression.”
London stated deliveries under the new package had already begun this month.

The British government also linked the move to the pace of Russia’s aerial campaign, noting that Russian forces launched around 6,500 one-way attack drones against Ukraine in March 2026, up from the February total.
The drone initiative forms part of the UK’s broader $3.9 billion military support package for Ukraine this year, alongside ERA funding. Healey is also expected to confirm the delivery of hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds and thousands of air defense missiles.
Most of the new investment will go to UK-based companies, including Tekever, Windracers, and Malloy Aeronautics, the government stated, framing the package as both military support for Ukraine and a boost to Britain’s domestic defense industry.
The announcement follows a UK-Ukraine defense partnership agreed last month and builds on a $650 million air defense package unveiled in February.

The latest British commitment also arrived amid broader European efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s battlefield position, as Germany stepped up military support on April 14, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz announcing new aid packages focused on air defense, long-range weapons, drones, and ammunition during talks in Berlin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that 10 agreements were signed, including the supply of PAC-2 missiles for Patriot launchers and additional missiles for IRIS-T systems.
The two sides also moved deeper into defense-industrial cooperation, with Berlin backing a major package worth about $4.3 to $4.5 billion and supporting joint production of drones and long-range weapons.
They also signed an agreement to exchange digital battlefield data, while Zelenskyy described the proposed drone partnership as potentially the largest deal of its kind in Europe.
