British Foreign Secretary David Lammy arrived in Kyiv on February 5 to discuss bilateral cooperation and Ukraine’s security, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK Valerii Zaluzhnyi announced.

“I am grateful that the United Kingdom stands with us in these difficult times,” Zaluzhnyi wrote on Telegram.

This is Lammy’s second visit to Ukraine since assuming office as foreign secretary in July 2024. During his trip, he is set to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other top officials.

The British government announced that Lammy will also unveil an additional £55 million ($68.7 million) in financial aid to Ukraine.

“Our support for Ukraine remains unbreakable. We are determined to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position, both in its fight against Russia and beyond,” Lammy stated.

As part of the new aid package, the UK will provide funds to support the continued supply of Ukrainian grain and other food products to Syria, innovative energy projects, assistance in rebuilding Ukrainian businesses, and support for family and community services.

Lammy’s visit comes shortly after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledged to increase military aid to Ukraine, promising that support in 2025 would surpass all previous years. The UK has already committed £3 billion ($3.6 billion) in military assistance this year. marking the largest military assistance package since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Earlier, the United Kingdom and Ukraine signed a 100-year partnership agreement to foster strong ties across the full range of relations, including trade, security, defense, science and technology, education, culture, and more.
