UK Officer Cadets to Be Able to Go to Ukraine for Firsthand Combat Training

The UK has announced that British officer cadets will have the opportunity to travel to Ukraine and attend training colleges to gain firsthand experience of Ukraine’s fight against Russia.
“Ukrainian officer cadets will be trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, helping to develop Ukraine’s future military leaders. British officer cadets will also be able to attend training colleges in Ukraine, learning first-hand from the Ukrainian Armed Forces about their fight on the battlefield,” a press release on the UK governmental website stated.
Starmer informed President Zelenskyy that the UK’s training offer for Ukraine in 2025 is fully flexible, with all options on the table. He also emphasized that the UK is collaborating closely with allies and partners to create a new training plan that will position Ukraine as strongly as possible throughout 2025.
Additionally, the British PM assured that the UK is ready to take a “full role” in potential peacekeeping activities in Ukraine, though he acknowledged that such a prospect is not currently on the horizon.
On January 16, the UK and Ukraine signed a 100-year partnership agreement aimed at fostering strong ties across the full range of relations, including trade, security, defense, science and technology, education, culture, and more.
