Ukraine and Croatia Expand Defense Ties with New Arms Production Deal

Ukraine and Croatia have signed a Letter of Intent to expand joint arms production and deepen defense-industrial ties, Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on October 27.
Speaking after a meeting with Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ivan Anušić, Shmyhal thanked Croatia for its continued military support and outlined new plans for bilateral cooperation.
“I thanked Croatia for providing 13 packages of military aid worth over $212 million. We expect the 14th package soon, and the 15th before the end of this year,” Shmyhal said.
The agreement includes plans to host a joint industrial forum in early 2026, bringing together Ukrainian and Croatian defense manufacturers to coordinate future production efforts.

The two countries also discussed cooperation within the SAFE (Security Assistance for Europe) framework and the possibility of Croatia joining the PURL initiative, which supports logistics and procurement for Ukraine’s defense needs.
“We discussed the potential for participating in a joint FPV drone production initiative. We see Croatia’s interest in this opportunity,” Shmyhal added.
Shmyhal also highlighted Croatia’s contribution to the activities of the “Demining Coalition,” mentioning that Croatian company DOK-ING has already delivered 69 demining vehicles and has started producing spare parts within Ukraine.
Previously, Croatia announced its decision to join the international “Drone Coalition,” pledging support for Ukraine in cooperation with partners Latvia and the United Kingdom.
