Ukraine Reaffirms Commitment to US Partnership on Mineral Resources Amid Russian Ceasefire Violations

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reaffirmed Ukraine’s strong commitment to peace efforts in a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on April 3.
Sybiha welcomed the “US leadership in this matter” and emphasized Ukraine’s interest in deepening cooperation on mineral resource development as part of a broader, mutually beneficial partnership.
“Ukraine is fully committed to peace and has taken concrete, unconditional steps to achieve it, whereas Russia continues to drag its feet. I also informed my counterpart about Russia’s recent violations of the energy ceasefire,” Sybiha wrote.
I met with @SecRubio at NATO Headquarters and reaffirm Ukraine’s strong commitment to peace efforts. We welcome U.S. leadership in this matter.

Additionally, the minister emphasized Ukraine’s interest in developing mutually beneficial investment cooperation and joint projects in the field of mineral extraction with the United States, describing it as a solid foundation for strengthening the bilateral partnership.
On March 25, Zelenskyy confirmed that a 30-day ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea and a mutual ban on strikes against energy infrastructure between Ukraine and Russia, brokered with US involvement, came into effect.
Since the announcement of the ceasefire, Russia has violated the agreement several times, launching attacks on the country’s energy facilities.
US Treasury Head Scott Bessent told Bloomberg on April 2 that a Ukrainian delegation will travel to the United States later this week or early next week to discuss a critical minerals agreement.
