Ukraine to Move Military Training Underground Amid Rising Missile and Drone Threats

On July 30, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, called for military training activities to be relocated underground where possible, citing ongoing risks from missile and drone attacks across the country.
According to a recent Facebook statement, General Syrskyi chaired a meeting focused on improving troop training and preparedness. During the session, Major General Ihor Skybyuk, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, reported on the current state of training operations.
Syrskyi emphasized the importance of strict safety protocols at training grounds and military education centers, underscoring that the entire territory of Ukraine remains vulnerable to aerial threats.

“In the zone of risk of enemy missile and drone strikes is the entire territory of Ukraine. Therefore, the training process must be maximally transferred underground. Response to air raid signals and the appearance of reconnaissance drones must be immediate!” he stated.
He also reiterated the focus on protecting servicemen: “Once again, I emphasize: the main thing is the people. Their training, their safety, their lives. The better our warriors are trained, the more protected they will be—and so will our entire country.”
On July 29, the Ukrainian military’s official command reported that Russia launched a missile strike targeting a training facility of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, killing three and injuring 18.
