Ukraine’s 2024 Aid Total Reaches $41.7 Billion for Social and Humanitarian Needs
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported receiving $41.7 billion in international aid in 2024, which has helped fund social payments despite significant defense spending. Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko announced this information during a televised interview, according to Ukrinform.
“This year, we have already secured $41.7 billion in assistance from our partners. This has allowed us to fully finance pensions, salaries in education and healthcare, and the entire humanitarian and social support system,” Marchenko stated.
The Minister emphasized that international aid remains a critical tool for maintaining Ukraine’s macro-financial stability during the ongoing full-scale war. It enables the government to meet all its social obligations to citizens despite the challenging circumstances.
The largest donors of budget support in 2024 included the European Union, the United States, the International Monetary Fund, Japan, the World Bank, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
On December 30, US President Joe Biden unveiled a new $1.25 billion military assistance package for Ukraine, aimed at enhancing the country’s defense capabilities in Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. The package, which will be drawn from US Department of Defense stocks, includes a range of critical weapons and equipment.
