Ukrainian Air Force Strikes Russian Command Post in Kherson Region with American GBU-39 Bombs
The Ukrainian Air Force has successfully targeted a Russian command post on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson region using American GBU-39 bombs.
The operation was carried out by aircraft from the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade, equipped with MiG-29 fighter jets, as confirmed by the Telegram channel “Sonashnyk,” which is linked to the Ukrainian aviation community.
According to the report, the strike was aimed at a Russian command post located in the settlement of Chelyburda, in Kherson region. Analysts from the resource “CyberBorosno” indicated that the Russians had established their command center in buildings within this village.
The Ukrainian Air Force used American-made, lightweight, precision-guided GBU-39 bombs for this mission. These bombs, weighing 130 kilograms, have a maximum range of up to 110 kilometers when dropped from high altitudes. The bomb’s winged design extends during flight, enhancing its range. When diving towards a target from a high altitude, the GBU-39 can penetrate concrete bunkers due to its tungsten-tipped warhead.
The bomb’s detonation system allows for airburst and delayed detonation options, ensuring optimal strike conditions. The precision of the strike is achieved through the guidance system, which includes inertial navigation and GPS.
