Ukrainian Assault Troops Clear Key Village on Bakhmut–Sloviansk Route, Halt Russian Advance

Ukrainian assault units from the Skala regiment cleared the village of Minkivka, a key position along the Bakhmut–Sloviansk route, in an operation aimed at stabilizing the frontline and disrupting Russian offensive plans, according to the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala” on March 24.
The assault allowed Ukrainian forces not only to regain control of the settlement but also to halt further Russian attempts to advance deeper into Ukrainian defensive lines.

During the fighting, Ukrainian troops conducted a successful relief operation, breaking through to previously contested positions and reestablishing control over both their own and allied positions in the area.
This enabled better control of critical directions and helped strengthen the overall defensive posture along the sector.
Following the operation, new observation posts were established to improve situational awareness and enable earlier detection of enemy movements.

Russian forces sustained significant losses during the battle. According to the unit, more than 40 Russian troops were killed, with additional equipment damaged and some enemy units reportedly demoralized.
The operation highlights the effectiveness of coordinated assault tactics, rapid decision-making, and the high level of training among Ukrainian forces in countering offensive actions.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Third Army Corps blocked what it described as Russia’s largest mechanized breakthrough attempt on the Lyman-Borova axis in the northern Donetsk region after Russian forces attacked in seven directions.
