Ukrainian Combat Units to Get $174K Per Battalion Under New Zelenskyy Plan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a series of new measures to support Ukrainian combat units, following a Staff meeting focused on requests raised by frontline soldiers, in a statement published on his official Telegram channel on August 11.
He said the government has approved a decision allowing battle brigades to purchase pickups, quad bikes, and similar vehicles using direct financing, in the same way they can currently acquire drones.
Both new and used vehicles will be eligible for purchase, with formal regulations to be finalized within the week to ensure the program starts in August.
Zelenskyy also instructed that direct funding for combat units be significantly increased, setting a new rule of about $174,000 per brigade for each battalion engaged in combat operations—a measure that will raise allocations by tens of millions of dollars overall.

Additionally, procedures for writing off equipment will be simplified and digitized, giving corps and brigade commanders greater autonomy and shortening approval times.
Addressing awards, Zelenskyy said delays of months or longer between nomination and presentation must be eliminated. He ordered the removal of unnecessary approvals, modernization of award documents, and implementation of Defense Ministry proposals to speed up the process.
Earlier, it was reported that President Zelenskyy stated Kyiv is in “active” discussions with international partners to form a unified position for truly sustainable peace, as the deadline for Russia to accept a ceasefire looms.
