Long-range drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) targeted a logistics hub in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan on the morning of August 9, according to the agency’s press service.
The facility, located in the settlement of Kzyl-Yul about 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine, was used to store Shahed drones ready for deployment as well as foreign-made components. The strike was carried out by the SBU’s Special Operations Center “A.”

Footage published on social media shows a drone hitting the building, followed by an explosion and fire.
The SBU stated that storage sites for Shahed drones are considered legitimate military targets and that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to degrade Russian military capabilities in its rear areas.
Russian Telegram channels, including Astra, reported that the attack also affected the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, where Shahed drones are assembled.

Yelabuga has been targeted multiple times since April 2024, including strikes in April, May, and June 2025.
Earlier, on July 2, satellite imagery confirmed a Ukrainian drone strike on the Kupol Electromechanical Plant in Izhevsk, Russia, a key producer of Shahed-type drones and Tor-M2E air defense systems. The attack, carried out by SBU-operated “Liutyi” drones, caused a major fire and collapsed part of the roof, halting production and reportedly injuring 45 workers.
