Ukrainian forces neutralized a Russian Kasta-2E2 (35N6) radar station in the Zaporizhzhia region on March 1, according to Robert Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS).

The mission was carried out through a joint effort between the 1st Operational Center of the SBS and the Ballista unit of the Special Operations Forces (SSO).

The strike followed aerial reconnaissance conducted by the 414th Separate Brigade, known as Madyar’s Birds, in coordination with the SBS Deep Strike Coordination Center. The radar was disabled using small FPV drones, highlighting a tactical focus on targeting specialized Russian hardware.

Brovdi described the Kasta-2E2 as a significant threat to drone operations due to its specific role in air defense. As a mobile, two-coordinate radar station, the system is designed to monitor airspace and identify the coordinates of targets flying at very low altitudes. Its primary function is to maintain air traffic control while detecting threats that attempt to bypass standard radar coverage.

The technical specifications of the Kasta make it a priority target for drone units. It is capable of detecting up to 20 targets per minute. Its range allows it to identify objects at altitudes as low as 100 meters within a 44-kilometer radius, or at heights up to 6,000 meters at a distance of 115 kilometers, according to the commander.

The degradation of Russian specialized equipment is not limited to radar systems. Mobile artillery is also being systematically targeted across the eastern front. In a similar display of coordinated precision, units of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) successfully intercepted and destroyed two Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers in the Donetsk region.

The operation, reported by the Lasar’s Group special operations unit, took place within the 20th Army Corps' zone of responsibility. According to the unit, the first rocket launcher was identified by pilots while they were already engaged in a separate mission. This allowed them to rapidly redirect strike assets to intercept the system along its movement route.

Following a systematic analysis of Russian positions in the same vicinity, a second Grad launcher was located. Although Russian forces attempted to conceal the hardware under cover, the NGU unit successfully pinpoint out the site and carried out the strike. These successful engagements against the BM-21 systems further reduce the Russian military's ability to conduct massed artillery strikes against Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces utilized US-provided ATACMS missiles to conduct an overnight strike on a Russian army auxiliary command post in temporary occupied East of Ukraine.
