Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo Missile Strike Hits Key Russian GRAU Arsenal

Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a major Russian military ammunition storage site, targeting an arsenal belonging to the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) in Russia’s Volgograd region using a FP-5 Flamingo missiles, according to the Ukrainian General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 12.
The facility near the settlement of Kotluban is considered one of the largest storage hubs for missiles, ammunition, and explosive materials used by the Russian military, the Ukrainian military wrote.

Powerful explosions were recorded at the site, followed by secondary detonations, while the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Russian regional authorities confirmed that a fire broke out at a Defense Ministry facility in the area after what they described as an overnight attack. Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov said emergency evacuations were ordered to protect civilians from the risk of further detonations during firefighting operations.

Monitoring channels and residents reported loud explosions and a large blaze spreading across the military installation, along with the sound of air defense activity.
Bocharov stated that Russian air defenses had allegedly repelled incoming threats and that emergency responders from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Defense Ministry were deployed to contain the fire. Despite those claims, reports continued to indicate significant destruction at the storage site and an ongoing danger of additional explosions.

Open-source data cited by Russian media Astra suggests the strike area includes military unit 57229/51, where a GRAU ammunition arsenal is located.
Russia’s Defense Ministry later said air defenses had intercepted and destroyed 106 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight across multiple regions, including one over Volgograd and 13 over Tambov. The ministry’s statement did not mention any missile strike on the Volgograd region.
Earlier, a precision missile strike carried out by Ukraine targeted the Skif-M plant in Belgorod, a facility identified by defense analysts as critical to Russia’s military aircraft production. Following the strike, Russian officials claimed that only one missile had hit its target. However, satellite imagery reviewed by analysts contradicts that assertion.
