Umerov: Defense Support for Ukraine to Reach €1.3 Billion in 2025 Under Danish Model

Ukraine’s defense support framework under the “Danish model” is expected to increase to €1.3 billion (approximately $1.41 billion) by 2025, according to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
The initial €428 million (approximately $464 million) tranche from Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Norway, and Iceland will soon be allocated to the production of domestically manufactured weapons, including artillery systems, strike drones, missiles, and anti-tank capabilities, Umerov announced in a statement posted to Facebook on June 4.
“This decision is the result of discussions with my colleague and friend, Danish Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen,” Umerov noted.

Defense Minister added that a portion of the funding will be sourced from revenues generated by frozen Russian assets.
“The “Danish model” is a unique mechanism for directly supporting Ukraine’s defense industry. It reflects trust in our army, recognition of our manufacturers’ capabilities, and a tangible contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” he stated.
Umerov also announced plans for new strategic initiatives, including investments by Ukrainian companies in Ramstein-format countries and the establishment of production facilities by European defense firms in Ukraine.
Earlier, Denmark had unveiled its 26th security assistance package for Ukraine, committing $634.74 million over the next four years to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. According to the Danish government, a portion of the funding will be reimbursed through the European Union’s European Peace Facility.
