Zelenskyy and Trump Could Meet at NATO Summit Dinner in The Hague on June 24

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump may attend the same working dinner scheduled for June 24 during the NATO summit in The Hague, potentially allowing for a bilateral meeting, according to Radio Svoboda on June 18.
Sources familiar with the summit’s planning told Radio Svoboda that both leaders are expected to participate in the dinner, which will be held in conjunction with the summit’s opening.
However, Zelenskyy is not scheduled to take part in the summit’s main session, nor is a Ukraine–NATO Council meeting at the leaders’ level currently planned.
Instead, Zelenskyy is expected to speak at the Defense Industries Forum, held on the sidelines of the summit.
According to diplomatic sources cited by Radio Svoboda, this year’s final NATO communiqué is expected to be significantly shorter than previous years—limited to a single page—and may omit any direct mention of Ukraine.

The draft, still under review, reportedly refers to Russia as a long-term threat and includes a pledge by NATO allies to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2032. This commitment could be revisited in 2029, coinciding with the end of President Trump’s current term.
Earlier, during the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Canada, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and other G7 leaders to discuss continued support for Ukraine.
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Canada announced a new military aid package worth over CA$2 billion, including drones, helicopters, and ammunition. Part of the assistance will support Ukraine’s domestic defense industry, while a separate $2 billion tranche is expected from profits generated by frozen Russian assets.
Zelenskyy also addressed the summit, describing air defense as “a matter of life and death” following one of the largest Russian attacks since the start of the full-scale war. He emphasized the urgent need for additional air defense systems and domestic missile production.
Canada also unveiled new sanctions targeting over 40 companies and 200 ships linked to Russia. In addition to bilateral talks with Canada, Zelenskyy is expected to meet with leaders from Japan, Brazil, India, NATO, and the European Union.
