Acсording to him, this is just the first step in strengthening military ties between the two countries.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the key question arising from this support concerns the next steps.

“In such situation the question is only one: when and which country will be the first to support and send troops? Like with Russia, when North Koreans send 10,000 soldiers who are now deployed in Russia, but could be sent to Ukraine,” the President said.

He also stressed that Russia does not rule out the possibility of sending its troops to Iran to bolster the regime and support the stability of its allies.

Despite warnings from Washington, the Kremlin has rejected neutrality in the escalating conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrei Kelin, clarified Moscow's stance during an interview with Sky News on March 8. He asserted that Russia views the Western interpretation of the crisis as fundamentally biased and “simply unfair.”

“We are not neutral. We are supportive of Iran, of course, and we consider what is happening very negatively,” Kelin stated. “Western countries now follow the logic that Iran is guilty of everything. But nobody says that the United States and Israel started the attack on Iran, and Iran is only responding to this attack.”

At the same time, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a strong warning to Russia, urging it to refrain from involving itself in the ongoing conflict with Iran. He expressed hope that the call would help reinforce “the opportunity for some peace” in Russia's war with Ukraine.

Hegseth also emphasized that the conversation served as a reminder for Russia to avoid engaging in the Iran conflict, stating, “as it pertains to this conflict, they should not be involved.”
