Zelenskyy: Ukraine and EU Will Match or Even Surpass Russia’s Artillery Production by 2026

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and the European Union are on track to match Russia’s annual artillery-round production by 2026, as reported in an interview on October 9.
“In 2026, together with the European Union, we will reach a level of artillery round production equal to that of the Russian Federation,” he said.
Zelenskyy added that a modest acceleration by partner nations could put Ukraine and its allies ahead of Moscow in artillery output over time.

He said that if some allies “slightly accelerate their production,” Kyiv expects to be stronger than Russia in artillery capability in the future—a development he described as “an important track.”
The President framed the ramp-up as a strategic effort to ensure sustained ammunition supplies for Ukraine’s defense and to lessen Moscow’s firepower advantage on the battlefield. He urged partners to maintain and, where possible, increase industrial tempo so that the projected 2026 parity becomes a platform for future superiority.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Europe is now capable of producing six times more artillery shells annually than two years ago.
