Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv and Budapest are working on the preparation of a "bilateral document" that will touch on, among other things, security issues and Ukraine's accession to NATO.

"The least we ask of Hungary is not to block Ukraine's invitation to NATO. That is, not to support, not to vote for us, but not to block," Zelenskyy explained.

"We will overcome any blockade of Hungary, I will tell you frankly. But I want Ukraine to go to victory without blockades from its neighbors, but on the contrary, with their help. Here we can work together."

This was reported by a Ukrinform correspondent citing Zelenskyy during a meeting with the heads of territorial communities and districts of the Zakarpattia region.

"Today, a bilateral document between Ukraine and Hungary is being prepared. There are many things in it in order to remove misunderstandings or to respond to the challenges of the present, future and past. So that the issue of minorities is not raised. More precisely, the issue may be raised, but it is quickly resolved so that no issues arise between our states. We look at it very positively," said Zelenskyy.

At the end of September, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, visited Budapest where he held bilateral talks with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó, where key topics for discussion included the development of good-neighborly relations, the implementation of joint projects in areas such as economic cooperation, border infrastructure, and the protection of national minority rights.
