“Five SES rescuers were killed in Kharkiv while extinguishing a fire as a result of a repeated Russian strike. At least five more were injured,” he said.
Expressing condolences to the victims’ families, the minister described the fallen responders as “heroes without weapons,” noting that Ukraine continues to lose those who risk their lives to save others.
Overnight June 15, Kharkiv came under Russian drone attacks, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Terekhov reported that a drone strike hit the city’s Kholodnohirskyi district, where the impact triggered a fire at a civilian enterprise.

“A fire broke out at a civilian enterprise as a result of the strike. State Emergency Service units are working at the scene. According to preliminary information, nearby residential buildings were not damaged,” he wrote on Telegram.
Authorities also recorded a separate Shahed drone strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv, near residential buildings.
Russian forces also carried out an overnight strike on Kyiv, causing damage to residential buildings, multiple fires, power outages, and at least one injury, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Tymur Tkachenko.

Klitschko said five people were injured in the capital, with four hospitalised and one receiving treatment at the scene.
He also reported a fire on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, noting that the roof of the Dormition Cathedral had caught fire.
Separately, monitoring channels reported that Russian forces launched 27 missiles at the Kyiv region within a one-hour period.
Days earlier, on June 10, Kharkiv was subjected to a large-scale drone assault, with multiple impacts recorded across different districts of the city, Ihor Terekhov said.
He initially reported a strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district, though no consequences were identified. Later, he clarified that the impact had occurred in a forested area, with no casualties or damage reported.
