The President expressed gratitude to international leaders who supported the initiative. He reported that Russia reacted to the proposal with new strikes across several regions, including Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.

Zelenskyy stated, "Russia has not stopped any of its types of military activity. Unfortunately, it has not stopped. Ukraine will act symmetrically. Depending on the situation tonight and tomorrow, we will also determine our entirely fair responses."

Zelenskyy clarified that Russia received a clear proposal regarding the silence mode and is aware of how to coordinate details with Ukraine or its partners. He suggested that the leadership in Moscow remains focused on military optics rather than peace. "If that one person in Moscow, who cannot live without war, is interested only in one parade and nothing else, then that is another matter.

Ukraine is ready to work for the sake of peace. Ukraine strives to worthily end this war. Russia has fought to the point that even their main parade already depends on us. And this is a clear signal: it is necessary to finish," the President added.

On May 6, 2026, Russia launched a new wave of drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, despite a "silence regime" that had officially begun at midnight.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian forces attacked several regions, including Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk, using over 100 drones and three missiles.

In Kharkiv, a drone struck a private home and injured two people, while another strike in the Sumy region hit a civilian vehicle, killing one woman. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that these actions demonstrated Moscow's rejection of genuine diplomatic efforts and peace initiatives.
