Russia Hits Operating Railway Facility in Zaporizhzhia—More Than a Dozen Workers Injured

A Russian strike hit a facility belonging to Ukraine’s state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia in Zaporizhzhia, injuring more than a dozen railway workers, including three who sustained serious injuries, Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi reported on September 28.

“An enemy strike hit our facility in Zaporizhzhia, which had continued operating despite everything. It was a treacherous attack, with no aerial threats detected by the monitoring systems,”Pertsovskyi stated.
He added that Ukrzaliznytsia representatives were working at nearby hospitals to provide assistance to the injured, while thanking the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration for its support.
The railway workers were among dozens of civilians injured in the broader Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia. Mykhailo Semikin of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration said that 30 civilians—20 men and 10 women—had been injured.
“Behind these dry statistics are people’s lives and health,” Semikin said.
The strikes on Zaporizhzhia came as Russia carried out attacks elsewhere across Ukraine, including in the capital. In central Kyiv, a Russian strike reportedly hit the Dobrobut Academy, setting the upper floors of the Dobrobut medical center on fire.
Across Kyiv, at least 19 people, including three children, were injured in the September 28 attacks, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. Six of the injured, among them two children, were hospitalized, while one woman was killed.
