Russian Drone Slams Into Kyiv Apartment Building, Killing 14-Year-Old Boy

A 14-year-old boy was killed and at least seven people were injured after a Russian drone struck a residential building in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district on September 25, Ukraine’s National Police reported.

According to the statement, the attack occurred at around 8 a.m., when a Russian drone hit a 16-story apartment building at the level of the 10th and 11th floors.

The strike killed the 14-year-old boy and injured at least seven residents. Authorities said the number of casualties was still being clarified.

Investigative teams, police explosives experts, State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers, and medical personnel were working at the site of the strike.

Damage and fires were also reported in other parts of the Ukrainian capital following the attack.

In Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, a strike on a non-residential building caused structural damage and set its roof on fire, according to SES. A separate fire broke out in an open area at another location in the district.

Meanwhile, in the Podilskyi district, a fire engulfed the first and second floors of a six-story non-residential building.

Emergency crews have since extinguished all fires caused by the attack, SES reported.

The September 25 attack came a day after Russia carried out another large-scale missile and drone assault across Ukraine, killing at least two people in Kyiv and damaging medical facilities in both the capital and Odesa.

During the September 24 attack, Russian forces launched 282 strike drones along with anti-ship and ballistic missiles, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted more than 200 drones and seven missiles.
