A Russian drone struck a scheduled passenger bus in Ukraine’s Nikopol district, killing five people and injuring at least seven others, Oleksandr Hanzha, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported on September 16.

In a public statement addressing the incident, Hanzha detailed the immediate and devastating impact of the strike.

“Russians hit the bus with a drone. Five people died on the spot,” Hanzha stated, noting that the targeted vehicle was operating on a regular civilian transit route at the time of the attack.

Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, and survivors were transported to nearby medical facilities. The seven injured individuals are currently under close medical supervision. According to Hanzha, medical staff are providing the wounded with “all necessary assistance” as they work to treat their injuries.

In a separate recent incident, a Russian “Lancet” drone had struck an active ambulance in the Donetsk region town of Yasnohirka, killing one medical worker and wounding two others.

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, characterized the daytime strike as a deliberate “hunt for those who save lives,” emphasizing the extreme and escalating risks faced by frontline paramedics who routinely operate under continuous fire.
