Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck several major Russian war economy and logistics targets overnight on July 8, including two oil refineries, nine shadow fleet tankers, an airfield, and bridges used for military transport, Ukraine’s General Staff reported.

One of the targets was the Saratov oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region. Explosions and a fire were recorded on the territory of the facility, while the scale of damage is still being assessed.

The Saratov refinery is part of Rosneft and is one of the key oil-processing facilities in the Volga region. Its designed capacity is around 7 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, including products used to support Russia’s military logistics.

Ukraine also struck the TAIF-NK oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, in Russia’s Tatarstan region.

Explosions and a fire were also recorded at that site, with the extent of damage still being clarified.

TAIF-NK is one of Russia’s largest oil refining complexes. It includes a refinery, a gasoline plant, and a deep-processing facility for heavy residues. Its designed oil-processing capacity exceeds 7 million tons per year, while its total processing capacity across all types of feedstock is more than 8 million tons.

The plant produces diesel, gasoline, aviation fuel, and other petroleum products used by Russia’s economy and military logistics network.

Ukraine’s General Staff also reported strikes on nine tankers from Russia’s shadow fleet. One vessel was in the Black Sea, while five were in the Sea of Azov. According to the military, the ships were involved in Russian logistics supporting occupation forces operating in southern Ukraine.

In addition, Ukraine struck the Borisoglebsk airfield in Russia’s Voronezh region. The results of the strike and the scale of damage are still being assessed.

The previous day, Ukrainian forces also hit road bridges near Urazovo and Shelayevo in Russia’s Belgorod region. The bridges were used by Russian forces for military logistics, including the movement of personnel, weapons, ammunition, and supplies.

There are reports that Ukrainian strike drones hit an oil facility in the Russian city of Ufa, Bashkortostan, sparking a fire at the site.

Recently, Ukraine struck Russia’s biggest oil refinery in Omsk. With that strike, every one of Russia’s 11 largest oil refineries has now been hit. Ukrainian long-range drones have struck Russian oil refineries at least 194 times since the beginning of 2026, contributing to a growing fuel crisis inside Russia.
