According to Business Insider on May 19, the weapon was developed by Ukrainian company DG Industry in cooperation with the Brave1 defense technology platform. The outlet reported that the bomb completed required testing and is now considered ready for operational use.

The new system is equipped with a 250-kilogram warhead and is designed for strikes against targets located deep behind enemy lines. According to Brave1 representatives, the weapon was built “from scratch” rather than adapted from Soviet or Western systems.

The bomb is reportedly compatible with existing Ukrainian aircraft and weapons systems. Business Insider reported that the system could also be integrated with F-16 and Mirage fighter jets after additional certification procedures.

According to information provided to Business Insider through Brave1, the weapon uses modern guidance algorithms intended to improve targeting accuracy. Developers also stated that the system can operate regardless of weather conditions or time of day, while preparation for deployment takes less than 30 minutes.

Ukrainian officials first confirmed on May 18 that the Air Force had received an experimental batch of domestically produced guided aerial bombs after approximately 17 months of development.

“Pilots are currently working through combat scenarios and adapting the new weapon system for use in real wartime conditions,” Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said in a statement published on social media.

“This is not a copy of Western or Soviet solutions, but a proprietary development by Ukrainian engineers designed to effectively strike targets dozens of kilometers deep after launch,” Fedorov added.

The outlet also reported that such weapons are difficult to intercept due to their relatively low radar visibility, short flight time, and non-ballistic flight path.

Earlier, Ukrainian drone crews used domestically produced “Foot Crusher” munitions to eliminate a Russian assault group near Andriivka in Sumy region, according to Ukraine’s 225th Separate Assault Regiment on June 26. The Kharkiv-developed drone bomb is designed for anti-personnel strikes using wide-area fragmentation.
