Fuel tanks containing petroleum products caught fire on the grounds of a thermal power plant in temporarily occupied Kerch after a strike by Ukraine’s Defense Forces, the monitoring community Crimean Wind reported on June 23, publishing footage from the scene.

According to satellite data cited by the channel, a thick black smoke plume from the fire has already stretched for 47 kilometers. Serhii Sternenko, an advisor to Ukraine’s Defense Minister, confirmed the strikes.

Overnight on June 23, the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula came under drone attack, with fires reported at several energy and fuel infrastructure sites.

NASA FIRMS satellite data also detected new fire hotspots at Russia’s Port Kavkaz in the Temryuk district of Krasnodar Krai.

Crimean Wind also pointed to thermal anomalies detected by satellites near the Nasosna-2 substation, a 220/110/35/10 kV facility located north of Mykolaivka in the Sovietskyi district of temporarily occupied Crimea.

A separate fire was reported near the entrance to Kerch, and near the settlement of Bagerovo, where available data suggests Russian S-300 or S-400 air defense systems may be positioned.

Earlier, reports emerged that temporarily occupied Crimea was facing severe water and electricity disruptions following an overnight Ukrainian strike on June 21 that hit the TES-Terminal-1 oil facility and multiple military targets in Kerch.

In response to these network failures, the occupation authorities began enforcing strict rolling blackouts on June 22 across key areas of the peninsula, including Sevastopol, Alushta, Sudak, and the Kurmansky, Yevpatoriysky, and Perekopsky districts.
