Drones Hit Taganrog Aircraft Plant and Strike Tuapse Refinery for Fifth Time

A massive wave of overnight strikes on targeted critical Russian military and energy infrastructure, hitting a strategic military aircraft repair facility in Taganrog and a major Rosneft oil refinery in Tuapse, according to local and OSINT channels on May 27.
Strategic aircraft plant struck in Taganrog
In Taganrog, Rostov Region, residents reported multiple powerful explosions around 5:00 AM, followed by thick columns of black smoke rising over the city.
Local sources confirmed a strike on the 325th Aircraft Repair Plant (325 ARZ), a facility heavily sanctioned by the US, European Union, and Ukraine for its direct role in maintaining Russia’s military aircraft fleet, Suspilne wrote.
The plant sits adjacent to another high-value strategic target, the Beriev Aircraft Plant, though it remains unconfirmed if the latter sustained damage.

Rostov Region Governor Yuriy Slyusar downplayed the attack, claiming air defenses shot down a missile over the city. However, he acknowledged that falling debris set multiple vehicles on fire and injured two people.
Tuapse oil refinery hit for the fifth time this spring
Simultaneously, further south in Krasnodar Krai, explosions rocked the Tuapse Oil Refinery and Marine Terminal complex, which forms a vital production and export hub owned by state oil giant Rosneft.
Residents reported at least one direct hit that heavily damaged a storage tank. According to tracking data, this is at least the fifth time the Tuapse facility has been successfully targeted this spring alone.
Regional operational headquarters claimed that intercepted drone debris fell onto the marine terminal, sparking a fire that was later extinguished, while the shockwaves shattered windows in nearby residential buildings.

The hit on the Tuapse facility is part of an ongoing, systematic Ukrainian air campaign that has knocked out six other major Russian oil refineries in May alone. By targeting primary processing units across various regions, the consecutive strikes have forced multiple critical plants completely offline.
The list of recent casualties includes Kirishinefteorgsintez (May 5), Permnefteorgsintez (May 13), the Ryazan refinery (May 15), the Moscow refinery (May 17), and the Lukoil-NORSI facility (May 20).
Most recently, on May 21, a strike on Rosneft’s Syzran refinery destroyed its primary crude distillation unit, entirely halting operations at the 8.5-million-ton-capacity plant and further fracturing Russia’s domestic fuel supply chain.
