Finland Joins Drone Coalition Supporting Ukraine’s Unmanned Warfare Capability

Finland will officially join the international drone coalition by the end of this spring. This group is currently led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, who established the initiative to streamline the supply of thousands of unmanned aerial vehicles to the front lines.
Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen confirmed the decision recently, noting that the move comes after a period of careful consideration, according to Uutissuomalainen on April 30.
We bring you stories from the ground. Your support keeps our team in the field.
The drone coalition already includes more than 20 countries working together to provide unmanned systems. Häkkänen explained that the Finnish government has been evaluating this step over the past year. He stated that the decision is now finalized and the official entry will happen very soon.
"This issue was evaluated last year and this year. Now I can announce that Finland will join the drone coalition this spring… We have discussed in the government the allocation of more resources to support Ukraine in the field of unmanned systems. Thanks to this, we will be able to add a significant addition to the European support for Ukraine," the minister said.

Current members of the coalition include Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Germany, alongside Canada and Australia. Each partner contributes resources to help Ukraine maintain its defense during Russia’s full-scale invasion.
This decision aligned with broader efforts to localize production, as Ukrainian defense company TAF Industries and Finnish firm Summa Defense signed a memorandum of understanding to expand drone manufacturing in Finland.
The agreement, implemented under the Build with Ukraine initiative, provided for the creation of a joint venture aimed at developing industrial-scale manufacturing capacity.
The partnership focused on the joint production of systems to meet the needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces by leveraging Finnish manufacturing infrastructure.
According to TAF Industries CEO Volodymyr Zinovskyi, the companies created a strong alliance to strengthen the military potential of both Ukraine and Finland during Russia’s full-scale invasion. The partnership aims to establish joint production capacity using Finnish industrial infrastructure to meet the needs of Ukraine’s armed forces.
