Trump and Musk Deny Involvement in Starlink Disruptions Over Ukraine

Speaking to journalists during an interview with Real America's Voice, the US president addressed questions about potential service suspensions affecting Ukrainian armed forces.
US President Donald Trump clarified that neither he nor SpaceX CEO Elon Musk authorized measures to temporarily limit access to the Starshield satellite system used for military operations in Ukraine following Russia’s full-scale invasion.

"Well, I don't know if it was anybody, because it wasn't me. And I don't think it was Elon," Trump stated.
Referring to the current status of the service, Trump emphasized that, according to his understanding, “everything stayed the way it was.”

On October 14, 2026, Ukrainian forces were forced to cancel drone missions after new restrictions on SpaceX’s Starlink satellite communications disrupted connections during flight, with some unmanned aircraft losing contact for up to 20 seconds at speeds as low as 110–120 km/h.
Units from the 7th Air Assault Corps operating in the Huliaipole sector experienced severe connectivity issues, which made remote control more difficult and increased operational risks.
Furthermore, overnight testing by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense identified specific speed restrictions preventing the military-oriented Starshield service from functioning at speeds exceeding 160 km/h.
