On March 5, CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed that the United States has temporarily halted intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich reports that he mentioned a “pause on the military front, on the intelligence front, to hold everyone accountable to drive peace around the world.”

Ratcliffe stated that the pause comes in the wake of discussions between U.S. and Ukrainian leadership. According to White House correspondent for Fox News Edward Lawrence, Ratcliffe expressed optimism that the suspension could soon be lifted, saying he looks forward to “working with Ukraine towards peace.”

According to a source cited by the Financial Times, Washington will continue sharing intelligence on Russia and Ukraine with its closest allies, including the United Kingdom. Previously, the Daily Mail reported that the United States had prohibited London from sharing American intelligence with Kyiv.

This intelligence-sharing suspension follows the U.S. decision to temporarily pause its military aid to Ukraine.

“This is a temporary pause,” U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said on March 4 in response to questions about the U.S. administration’s decision to halt military assistance to Ukraine.
