A Russian overnight strike on Kharkiv killed at least seven people, including a toddler and a teenager, and injured more than three dozen, after missiles and drones tore through residential neighborhoods in the city’s Industrialny district.
Russian forces launched a deadly overnight attack on Kharkiv’s Industrialnyi district, striking the city with missiles and drones, killing at least five people, including a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, and more than three dozen others were injured, according to the Kharkiv governor Oleh Syniehubov on August 18.
The assault began when a missile exploded near a residential neighborhood, injuring 11 people, among them a 13-year-old child. Most victims also suffered acute stress reactions.

By early morning, Russian drones targeted Kharkiv again. One Shahed drone slammed into a five-story apartment building, igniting fires across multiple floors in two entrances.
Emergency services reported at least 18 people injured in the drone strikes, including children aged six, ten, and sixteen.
Syniehubov confirmed that the fatalities include a 55-year-old woman, a 45-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and a one-and-a-half-year-old girl. Rescue workers continue searching for at least five people who may still be trapped under the rubble.
The blasts shattered over 1,000 windows in nearby apartment complexes and damaged more than ten multi-story buildings, as well as five parked cars.
One woman was pulled from the debris alive and is believed to be the mother of one of the victims.
“Search-and-rescue operations are ongoing,” Syniehubov said.
Earlier, reports emerged that civilian casualties in Ukraine reached a new three-year high. 286 civilians were killed and 1,388 injured in July—the highest monthly figures since May 2022 and exceeding those recorded in June 2025.
