France, Germany, Sweden Send Military Personnel to Denmark After Airport Closures

France, Germany, and Sweden announced on Monday that they will deploy military personnel and anti-drone systems to Denmark to strengthen security at this week’s European summits in Copenhagen, following recent drone incursions that forced the closure of several Danish airports.
This was reported by Reuters on September 29.
Swedish police confirmed they will send a significant contingent to Copenhagen at Denmark’s request, with Norwegian law enforcement officers also set to join the security effort.

According to Reuters, France will contribute a Fennec military helicopter and a 35-member team tasked with anti-drone operations. Germany, for its part, will send around 40 soldiers equipped to detect, identify, and neutralize drones, a government spokesperson in Berlin said during a briefing ahead of the EU summit.
The mission will run until October 7, with all participating forces bringing the necessary equipment to safeguard the summits and counter aerial threats.
In addition, Sweden will provide Denmark with radar units and military-grade anti-drone systems, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced. The systems, already dispatched, are among the most advanced in the world and will complement Denmark’s air defense and security measures.
Earlier, it was reported that in the early hours of September 29, the Danish Air Force scrambled fighter jets over the Baltic Sea following reports of suspected drone activity.
