Germany Commits $500M to Third Major Military Aid Package for Ukraine Under NATO Scheme

On August 13, Germany committed $500 million to a new NATO-backed military aid package for Ukraine, marking the third such donation under the alliance’s support scheme.
The package will include critical military equipment and munitions aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.
The Netherlands and a coalition of Nordic countries—Denmark, Norway, and Sweden—had already pledged funding for the first two packages, each valued at approximately $500 million.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed Germany’s latest pledge, emphasizing the strategic importance of the delivery.

“I commend Germany for stepping up once again. This delivery will help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression,” Rutte said in a statement.
Germany remains the largest European contributor of military aid to Ukraine, a role it has underscored with this recent announcement.
Rutte added, “Germany is the largest European contributor of military aid to Ukraine, and today’s announcement further underlines its commitment to help the Ukrainian people defend their freedom and sovereignty.”
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance will keep supplying weapons to Ukraine regardless of the outcome of the August 15 meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
