Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on several Ukrainian cities, targeting civilian infrastructure in Odesa, Cherkasy, and Mykolaiv with missiles and Iranian-made Shahed drones, according to Ukrainian officials on July 24.

Fires broke out across multiple locations, including apartment buildings, a gas station, and Odesa’s historic Pryvoz Market.

At least 11 people were reported injured, including a child, and dozens were evacuated from damaged homes.

In Odesa, drones heavily damaged a nine-story apartment building. The strike destroyed apartments from the fifth to the eighth floors of one entrance and raised fears of a structural collapse. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES), five people were rescued from blocked apartments, and 33 residents were evacuated.

“There is a risk of the building collapsing, which complicates debris removal,” said SES officials.

Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper confirmed the scale of the attack, stating that multiple civilian targets were damaged and four people were injured in the attack.

Among them were the residential high-rise, a two-story building, a gas station, and even a UNESCO-protected architectural monument in central Odesa.

The same attack also sparked fires in a private home, a gas station, and at the Pryvoz Market—one of the city’s most iconic trading spots. A two-story market building and several commercial pavilions were engulfed in flames. Firefighters later confirmed the blaze had been fully extinguished.

In Cherkasy, a missile strike hit residential neighborhoods, wounding seven people. One child is among the injured, according to Ukraine’s National Police. Emergency responders were able to extinguish the fires caused by the blasts quickly.

In addition, Russians hit a cemetery in Cherkasy region, Cherkasy Mayor Anatolii Bondarenko reported.

According to regional governor Vitaliy Kim, no casualties have been reported so far.

Earlier, the Russian army dropped a FAB-250 guided aerial bomb on a multi-story apartment block in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, triggering a large fire and extensive structural damage.

According to Oleksandr Honcharenko, head of the Kramatorsk City Military Administration, Russian forces hit a residential high-rise in Kramatorsk, and a fire broke out at the impact site. As of 7:30, one fatality has been confirmed—a boy born in 2015. Five more people have been wounded and are receiving qualified medical assistance.”
