Ukraine has concluded the winter season under intense aerial pressure, facing a combined total of more than 34,000 strikes involving missiles, drones, and guided bombs.

According to official statements released by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on March 1, Russian forces utilized a vast arsenal to target both military and civilian infrastructure across the country over the last three months.

Data provided by the President’s office outlines the scale of the Russian offensive during the 90-day winter period. According to Zelenskyy, the total numbers include:

  • Guided aerial bombs (KABs): Over 14,670 units;

  • Attack drones: approximately 19,000 units;

  • Missiles: 738 units of various types.

The intensity of these strikes remained high through the final days of the season. During the last week of February alone, Russian forces deployed more than 1,720 attack drones, nearly 1,300 guided aerial bombs, and over 100 missiles against Ukrainian targets.

The majority of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used in these operations are identified as Shahed loitering munitions, a Russian-Iranian collaborative design. President Zelenskyy highlighted the broader implications of this technology, noting its use in other global conflicts.

“These are the same drones that the Iranian regime is currently launching across countries in the Middle East,” Zelenskyy stated in a post on his official Telegram channel. “Evil must be countered in any part of the world.”

The president emphasized that the strikes frequently targeted “civilian critical infrastructure,” noting that the Russian Federation made no attempts to justify these specific operations.

Despite the volume of ordnance deployed, the Ukrainian government reported that the nation successfully maintained its essential services throughout the winter. Zelenskyy framed the survival of the energy grid and infrastructure as a testament to both local resilience and international military support.

In his address, Zelenskyy linked the effectiveness of Ukraine’s defense to the consistency of Western aid, specifically referencing the role of the United States and its partners.

“When the United States and partners have enough determination, even the bloodiest dictators eventually pay for their crimes,” the president noted, adding his gratitude to those assisting in Ukraine’s defense and the preservation of lives.

Earlier in February, records showed a peak of 5,700 guided aerial bomb (KAB) strikes in January 2026, the highest monthly total since the invasion began. According to intelligence data released by the HUR on February 2, these attacks rely on UMPK modules equipped with “Kometa” satellite antennas to convert unguided munitions into long-range precision weapons.
