Poland Becomes Largest Buyer of Taiwanese Drones as Europe Shifts From Chinese Tech

Poland has emerged as the largest buyer of drones from Taiwan, positioning itself as a key hub for Europe’s growing demand for non-Chinese defense technology, Bloomberg reported on September 25.
The country now accounts for nearly 60% of Taiwan’s drone exports, which surged to about $32 million through August this year—up from almost nothing in previous years. The United States ranks second, importing around $7 million worth over the same period.
Taiwanese drone manufacturer Ahamani confirmed that Polish demand is so strong it is planning to open a factory in the country, as reported by Bloomberg. The company also revealed that other international firms, including a major South Korean drone producer, have expressed interest in sourcing non-Chinese motors.
“In my view, Europe is a very important market in the drone industry. And Poland is a key gateway and base for us,” said Ahamani CEO Kung Tzu-chi. “With drone companies around the world looking for non-Chinese supply chains, motors and batteries are in short supply.”

The boom in demand has fueled rapid growth in Poland’s domestic drone sector. WB Electronics, the country’s largest producer, reported revenues of nearly $829 million in 2024—more than double the previous year and up sharply from around $95 million in 2021, before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, the company, which already operates a production facility in Ukraine and supplies equipment to the Armed Forces, has also proposed a joint production deal with Ahamani, according to Kung.
“For Poland, closer cooperation with Taiwan is very good news,” said Justyna Siekierczak, board member at the Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems. “In the event of any destabilization in our country or growing hybrid threats, we in Poland must be prepared to increase our production capacity.”
Earlier, Taiwan entered a defense technology partnership with the US-German company Auterion to obtain drone software that has been battle-tested in Ukraine’s war.
