Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has publicly condemned Russia’s overnight missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine, saying the attacks expose the emptiness of a recent promise made by Vladimir Putin to US President Donald Trump, Sikorski wrote on X on February 3.

Sikorski reacted to a post by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who described Russia’s February 3rd strikes as deliberate attacks carried out during extreme conditions, with temperatures falling below −20°C.

“So much for Putin’s promise to US President Donald Trump,” Sikorski wrote.

The Polish diplomat was responding to a fresh wave of Russian strikes that targeted Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure at the height of winter, leaving large numbers of civilians without heat or electricity. The attacks came despite Moscow’s earlier assurances that it would refrain from hitting critical Ukrainian infrastructure for a week.

Sybiha, whose post Sikorski reposted, described the overnight barrage as genocidal in nature, stressing that the strikes were aimed directly at the civilian population rather than military targets.

“This is what Putin’s promise to US President Donald Trump looks like in reality,” Sikorski added, underscoring what Warsaw sees as Russia’s consistent disregard for diplomatic commitments.

The comments add to growing frustration among Ukraine’s allies, who argue that Moscow continues to use talks and pledges as cover while escalating attacks on civilian infrastructure—particularly during periods of severe cold.

Earlier, Ukraine condemned Russia’s deadly strike on a civilian bus in the Dnipro region after at least 15 people were killed.
