Poland is preparing for a large-scale operation named “Horizon,” which will involve up to 10,000 soldiers from all branches of the Polish Armed Forces. The operation, set to begin on November 21, will focus on countering acts of sabotage and protecting critical infrastructure, including airports, railways, and bridges, according to RMF on November 19.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference by Defense Minister Vladislav Kosyniak-Kamysz, Interior Minister Marcin Kiewinski, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukula.

The operation will be led by General Maciej Kliś and aims to secure vital infrastructure across Poland. As Minister Kosyniak-Kamysz stated, the operation is one of the largest of its kind.

“Together with Minister Kiewinski, we are submitting a request to the Prime Minister, and then the Prime Minister's request will be presented to the President of the Republic of Poland,” he said.

Interior Minister Marcin Kiewinski stressed the importance of uniting efforts from all state services to combat new threats.

“We are living in times when we must pay much more attention to security. Russia’s intentions remain unchanged,” he emphasized. He also assured that Poland is ready to use all available resources to protect its citizens and ensure national security.

As part of the operation, a mobile application will be launched to allow citizens to report suspicious incidents. General Kukula announced that the app will be available by mid-December, enabling users to specify the exact location of an incident and upload photos to document violations.

Given that many Polish citizens will use public transport during the upcoming holiday season, Kukula warned that this period could be seen by enemies as a favorable time to attack national security.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and during their conversation, they explored the creation of a Ukrainian-Polish task force aimed at countering and preventing subversive activities orchestrated by Russia.
