Polish state-owned arms manufacturer Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) has offered to produce Ukrainian-designed weapons in Poland, citing both security and long-term cooperation goals, said PGZ Vice President Jan Grabowski, speaking to Interfax-Ukraine on August 1.

“We have a high regard for the capabilities of Ukraine’s defense industry. We want to cooperate and support Ukraine and its defense sector,” Grabowski said.

According to him, PGZ has already discussed potential collaboration with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and its defense industry partners.

Taking into account the European SAFE (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) funding mechanism, PGZ is ready to explore various forms of cooperation, Grabowski said—including the domestic production of Ukrainian weapons in Poland under secure conditions.

“We’re ready to cooperate in different forms to manufacture Ukrainian systems in Poland—in a safe place, under secure conditions—so that we can also share defense technologies,” he said.

Grabowski emphasized that one of the primary areas of cooperation would be drone technologies.

“We are talking about cooperation in drone technologies—including aerial and maritime drones, and more. We also know that missile technology is strong in Ukraine, and this is something we want to discuss,” he added.

At the same time, Grabowski stressed that Poland also brings significant technological expertise to the table, and PGZ is open to two-way partnerships with Ukrainian manufacturers.

PGZ is also considering localizing the production of barrels for its 155mm Krab self-propelled artillery systems in Ukraine.

“We are discussing barrel production with Ukraine because we know how critical this component is,” Grabowski said.

He noted that PGZ is currently repairing Ukrainian tanks at facilities in Poland and servicing Krab howitzers in Ukraine, including barrel replacements.

“One of the ideas for deeper cooperation is to start producing these barrels directly in Ukraine,” the PGZ vice president explained.

He also revealed that PGZ established a Ukrainian subsidiary, Service Orel, back in 2022—a local maintenance base for Polish equipment deployed in Ukraine.

“With this, we are already supporting the Ukrainian front lines through repairs, and we want that cooperation to grow,” Grabowski added.

Earlier, reports emerged that in 2024, Poland delivered nearly 300 armored fighting vehicles and 106 artillery systems to Ukraine, according to data submitted to the UN Register of Conventional Arms on July 16, 2025.
