According to Reuters on March 27, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Washington’s approach is “wrong” and harms both Russian and American economic interests.

“We are wasting time, and American companies, just like our own, are missing out on the profits they could already be making,” Peskov stated.

Peskov’s remarks came as Moscow continues to signal interest in renewed economic engagement with the US despite ongoing hostilities. Russian officials have been promoting the idea of large-scale joint projects while maintaining their current negotiating position on Ukraine.

Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who is involved in discussions with representatives linked to US President Donald Trump, said Russia holds leverage in the talks. “Russia holds the strongest position and possesses the most powerful resources,” he said, adding that “everything will be done only on Russia’s terms.”

Earlier, according to Financial Times on March 27, Russian leader Vladimir Putin asked oligarchs to contribute billions to the state budget to sustain war spending, signaling mounting pressure on Russia’s economy amid high interest rates, declining investment, and growing pessimism among businesses.
