The Russian microelectronics plant “Kremniy El“ in Bryansk has halted production following a drone attack on October 21.

According to the company's press service, the night strike affected both the production and administrative buildings, disrupting the power supply, damaging facilities that provide specialized energy resources, and interrupting technological production chains.

General Director Oleg Dantsev stated, "Our primary task today is to restore electronic equipment production as quickly as possible to ensure the unconditional fulfillment of our plans. Builders are assessing the potential for repairing the damages."

However, the restoration of production faces challenges due to sanctions, particularly difficulties in acquiring spare parts needed for the technological equipment and energy infrastructure.

“Kremniy El“ is one of Russia's largest microelectronics manufacturers, with its products being used for various purposes, including military applications.

Since 2000, “Kremniy El“ reported an eightfold production increase by 2014 and a further 40% rise by 2018, with a trading volume of approximately $46.8 million in 2021. In August 2022, it announced a $60 million investment in microelectronics, aiming to double output, following the production of goods worth approximately $27.7 million in the first half of that year.

The plant's products are also key to strategic Russian radar systems utilizing Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology.

Earlier on October 12, Ukrainian defense forces targeted a fuel storage facility near the city of Rovenky in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. The facility housed petroleum and oil products, which were reportedly being supplied to Russian military forces.
