At least two civilians were killed and seven others injured in Russian attacks across several Ukrainian regions over the past 24 hours, regional authorities reported on May 13.

Strikes were recorded in Donetsk, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Ukraine’s Air Force reported shooting down all 10 drones launched by Russia overnight.

The attacks came despite a call from Ukraine and its international partners for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire beginning May 12.

In Donetsk region, one person was killed in an attack on the village of Zoria, while two others were injured in separate strikes on Dorozhnie and Svitle, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin. In Sumy region, a Russian drone struck a vehicle transporting energy workers in the Sumy community, killing the driver, the local military administration reported.

In the south, Russian forces targeted 34 settlements in Kherson region, including the regional capital. Two people, including a child, were injured, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said.

In Kharkiv region, shelling wounded a 62-year-old man in Kindrashivka and a 51-year-old man in Ruski Tyshky, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov. In Zaporizhzhia region, a Russian drone hit a civilian vehicle, injuring a 72-year-old man.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with European leaders who arrived in Kyiv, held phone conversations on May 10 with US President Donald Trump before and after the “coalition of the willing” meeting, where they pushed for a ceasefire. Putin has expressed his readiness for “direct negotiations” with Kyiv in Istanbul on May 15.

Soon after, Trump announced that he expects Ukraine to agree to the talks and indicated that he may visit Türkiye for the discussions.

Zelenskyy confirmed his willingness to meet Putin in person in Istanbul on May 15 and supported Trump’s call for direct talks, reaffirming his readiness for a face-to-face meeting with the Russian leader.
