Ukraine Hits Shahed Drone Depot Deep Inside Russia for Second Time in a Week

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has carried out a second strike in seven days on a Shahed drone storage terminal in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan.
According to the SBU, the operation took place on August 12 and targeted a logistics hub in the settlement of Kzyl-Yul, located approximately 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine.
The facility reportedly housed ready-to-use Shahed-type attack drones and foreign-supplied components for their assembly.
The strike was conducted using long-range drones from the SBU’s Special Operations Center “A.” Footage recorded by local residents shows the moment of impact and subsequent fires inside the terminal.
Satellite imagery captured after the previous attack revealed at least two holes in the facility’s roof, one significantly larger than the other.

The SBU stated that the repeat strike was aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to use Shahed drones against Ukraine. Officials noted that similar operations targeting enterprises supplying the Russian military industry will continue.
The previous attack on the same facility took place on August 9, when Ukrainian long-range strike drones, including the “Liutyi” model, hit the site, causing a fire.
The SBU described the terminal as a legitimate military target due to its role in storing and supplying attack drones used in strikes on Ukrainian territory.
