On January 27, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck several strategic Russian military targets on the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As part of efforts to diminish the offensive potential of the Russian forces, Ukrainian units destroyed the “Osa” surface-to-air missile system near the settlement of Semenivka. Preliminary information indicates that the strike was a direct hit.

In addition, Ukrainian defenders targeted several important logistical facilities of the enemy operating in the temporarily occupied territory.

“The location of the enemy’s maintenance unit of a special forces brigade near Tokmak, the material and technical supply warehouses of the artillery brigade near Okhrimivka, and the facilities of the 76th Air Assault Division in the Kyrylivka area were hit,” the General Staff stated.

Earlier this month, a Ukrainian drone unit successfully targeted and destroyed a Russian Osa located deep behind Russian lines.

The strike was carried out by a single drone, operating far from the front lines, and eliminated the Osa system, which is designed to protect Russian troops and critical infrastructure from air attacks.

According to the unit, the destroyed air defense system was valued at over $10 million, while the drone used to carry out the strike cost a fraction of that amount.

Previously, a Russian BM-35 loitering munition hit what Moscow identified as a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet at Kanatove airfield in Ukraine’s Kirovohrad region. However, open-source analysts have contradicted this claim, stating that the target was actually a decoy, not a real aircraft.

Satellite images and battlefield footage suggest that the destroyed object was a full-scale mock-up designed for training and deception, rather than an actual fighter jet.
