Ukrainian UNWAVE Unveils “Stepovyi Viter” Attack Drone With 70km Range

Ukrainian electronic warfare firm UNWAVE has presented a new one-way attack drone dubbed Stepovyi Viter that it says can hit targets at ranges of up to 70 kilometers, according to Militarnyi on February 3.
UNWAVE, as Militarnyi wrote, stated the system was developed together with a team of aviation engineers from Kropyvnytskyi and has completed production testing, with combat trials expected next.

The drone is intended to strike static targets and can carry a warhead weighing 5 kilograms. Stepovyi Viter complex includes five drones, a ground control station, and a catapult.
The company added that the munition uses an automatic target-lock system and that operators can detect and lock a target at a distance of about 1,000 meters, while the guidance refinement system was developed in-house.

UNWAVE officials said the drone uses Ukrainian-made digital communications and can be operated in automatic, semi-automatic, or manual modes. Deploying the complex takes about 20 minutes, and packing it up takes about 10 minutes.
Ukraine has rapidly expanded domestic production of attack drones, with Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov saying Ukraine already had up to 10 companies making long-range systems that can reach targets as far as Moscow and St Petersburg and would produce “thousands” of such drones.
Earlier, it was reported that a Czech firm supplied Ukraine with fiber‑optic FPV drones developed from captured Russian UAVs, enhancing Ukraine’s capabilities against electronic warfare and long‑range threats.
