The SkySat satellite photographs show smoke and signs of a large-scale fire affecting the vessel’s superstructure.

The damaged section includes the structure above the main deck that houses the ship’s bridge, combat control posts, communications systems, and radar equipment. Damage to these critical components could significantly impair the corvette’s command-and-control capabilities and combat effectiveness, according to Militarnyi.

On June 3, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces said they carried out a strike on the Russian Navy corvette Boykiy during a drone operation targeting the Kronstadt naval base near St. Petersburg.

According to Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, operators from the 1st Center of the unit hit the Project 20380 corvette Boykiy while it was undergoing scheduled maintenance at the Veleshchynskyi Dry Dock in Kronstadt.

Brovdi noted that the vessel is fitted with guided missile systems and said the strike occurred at around 06:35 local time.

Commissioned into Russia’s Baltic Fleet in 2013, the Boykiy is designed for patrol duties as well as anti-submarine and surface warfare operations. In recent years, it has reportedly operated near NATO waters and was also observed escorting ships linked to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” through the English Channel.

The reported attack formed part of a wider overnight Ukrainian operation targeting Russian military and industrial infrastructure.

According to Ukraine’s General Staff, additional strikes hit the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, the Progress defense enterprise in Russia’s Tambov region, as well as a number of military sites in occupied Crimea and in occupied areas of eastern Ukraine.
