Regional authorities initially reported that five local residents had sustained injuries during the strike.

"Five people were injured due to the enemy attack on Dnipro. These are a 34-year-old man and women aged 43, 58, 66, and 78. Four of them have been hospitalized in moderate condition," Hanzha stated.
At 5:28 PM, Hanzha provided an update confirming that the number of casualties had increased.

"The number of wounded due to the Russian strike on Dnipro has risen to 14. Among them is a 13-year-old boy. He has been hospitalized, as have seven adults. All are in moderate condition. Three victims are receiving outpatient treatment," the official noted.
The May 21 strike on Dnipro followed a large-scale attack just days earlier, when Russian forces launched a massive overnight assault across the Dnipropetrovsk region on May 18, 2026. That previous bombardment, which utilized missiles, drones, artillery, and guided aerial bombs, injured at least 26 people and damaged civilian infrastructure across six districts.
The heaviest damage during the May 18 assault was reported in the city of Dnipro itself, where strikes hit residential and civilian infrastructure, injuring 18 people and damaging apartment blocks, private homes, a university building, and local businesses.
Widespread destruction and additional civilian casualties were also recorded in the surrounding Dnipro, Samar, Kryvyi Rih, Kamianske, Synelnykove, and Nikopol districts.
