A Russian 2S19 “Msta-S” self-propelled howitzer has been detected and destroyed by Ukrainian forces, according to an official statement released by the 151st Separate Mechanized Brigade on June 29.

The operation was conducted by the operators of the “Northern Eagle” unmanned systems battalion of the 151st brigade.

Military reports indicate that Russian forces had attempted to conceal the heavy artillery piece within a camouflaged firing position. However, Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance teams located the target in a timely manner, allowing tactical strike drones to deliver the final precision hits.

The 151st Separate Mechanized Brigade noted that the strike removes a key piece of Russian hardware from the sector, ensuring the self-propelled gun can no longer be utilized to shell Ukrainian defensive positions or adjacent civilian settlements.

This operation follows a similar strike in late May, when Ukrainian drone operators from the Bulava Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade struck a cluster of Russian artillery systems inside Russia’s Bryansk region.

The targeted deployment included a concentration of heavy equipment, resulting in hits on multiple 2S19 Msta-S and 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers, 2S4 Tyulpan heavy mortars, D-30 towed howitzers, and 120 mm mortar positions.
