NATO to Take On Greater Role in Aid and Training for Ukraine, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Says

NATO allies remain committed to providing military aid to Ukraine and will continue to uphold their obligations, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated ahead of a Ukraine-NATO Council meeting in Brussels, according to Ukrainian media ArmyInform on February 13.
“Yesterday, we had a productive meeting in the Ramstein format. Today, we continue our discussions, focusing on security assistance. All allies support us, and the United States continues to provide aid. NATO is overseeing our assistance and training, and we are grateful for its leadership,” Umerov said.
He emphasized Ukraine’s resilience and determination:
“At this stage, our message is clear: we are strong, we are capable, and we continue to fight. We want to thank all nations for their leadership and security assistance.”
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte underscored the need to strengthen Ukraine’s position ahead of any potential negotiations to end the war.
“And when these negotiations conclude, we must ensure that Putin never again attempts to seize even a single kilometer of Ukrainian territory. That is why we must continue military support for Ukraine,” Rutte stated.
Earlier, the UK government announced a new £150 million military aid package for Ukraine including tanks, artillery, air-to-air missiles, and other weaponry, along with contracts for maintaining previously supplied equipment for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
