Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who arrived in Kyiv after his visit to Russia, briefed his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, on what he “heard and saw” in Moscow.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv on May 30, Sybiha stated that the ministers had discussed both bilateral and international agendas in detail.

"First and foremost, we addressed the peace process, the need for a complete ceasefire, the release of prisoners, and other issues. We are grateful for Türkiye’s support in these efforts and rely on continued assistance from Ankara. Hakan has just returned from Moscow and provided me with a detailed account of what he heard and saw there," the Ukrainian minister emphasized.

Fidan also mentioned that he had already discussed recent developments with Sybiha and had a scheduled meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“On the instructions of our president, we are carrying out shuttle diplomacy,” Fidan said. “First, we listened to the Russian side in Moscow, shared our thoughts and evaluations. As you know, Russia expressed its readiness to continue negotiations on June 2. Today, in Kyiv, we are exchanging views with our Ukrainian friends.”

The Turkish Foreign Minister reiterated that Türkiye fully supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and independence.

“For us, it does not matter where the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia take place, but we are deeply interested in achieving a swift end to the war,” he said.

Fidan expressed optimism about the upcoming negotiations, stating, “We believe that a second round of talks is realistic, and Turkey is ready to host these talks in our country.”

Earlier, Fidan visited Moscow, where he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation for talks with Ukraine.
